The best way to teach is to praise positive actions and ignore negative ones.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.
I disagree with the above presented statement that the best way to teach is to praise actions and ignore negative ones. Learning begins at home in early age than moves on to school, college and rest of our lives. If we do not learn from our mistakes and keep ignoring them the consequences can sometimes be serious in life. If a child is learning to read and write in his/her early stage of life and if we ignore the negative actions, they will never learn to realize the difference between good and bad. This can lead to major mistakes in life and not only once, but reputing the same mistake over and over again by ignoring.
For example, if you are teaching a student how to save their pocket money to help her buy books. The child may be able to save money, which you will praise, but you ignore the fact that he bought candy, instead of books. There were some objectives behind your planning on saving and buying books. It is very important to address this issue and help understand the consequences of wrong decisions. If the negative actions are not addressed or corrected, the child may not understand the value it presents about saving and buying books.
The best way to teach is by examples either good or bad, so it helps the learner to understand the difference between right and wrong to make best decisions. When you only praise the positive actions and ignore the negative, you may sometimes indirectly promote the negative actions. If someone does not understand, they are doing something wrong and how they can improve than that will not be a true learning process.
Further more, we learn from our experience whether good or bad. If the actions are positive, it needs praise and positive action as well as positive reinforcement. At the sometime negative actions needs discussion, suggestion for improvement, and the overall impact of the negative actions. Teaching and learning is a journey and also a balance between good and bad, right and wrong, along with positive and negative actions. As a teacher, we should always address every aspect of teaching instead of ignoring anything.
