Argument:
The producers of the forthcoming movie 3003 will be most likely to maximize their profits if they are willing to pay Robin Good several million dollars to star in it - even though that amount is far more than any other person involved in the movie will make. After all, Robin has in the past been paid a similar amount to work in several films that were very financially successful.
Essay:
The author has concluded that the producers of the upcoming movie 3003 will most likely maximize their profits if they cast Robin Good in their film and pay the actor several million dollars to star in the movie. He supports his conclusion by referring to other films which were very successful financially when Robin was paid similar amount. The author has made several unsubstantiated assumptions in the argument. Thus, the argument is weak and very unconvincing.
Firstly, the author claims that Robin Good will help the producers to maximize their profits only if they are willing to pay several million dollars. The author doesn't provide any information on how good the actor's performance is. What if, even after paying several million dollars, the actor presents a very poor performance? In that case, the movie will not be a success, and thus the profits cannot be guaranteed.
Secondly, in order to make a successful movie, it is imperative that the storyline of the movie is good and all the cast of the movie perform well. Sure enough, the main star of the movie is more important than the rest of the crew, however that doesn't mean the success of the movie is completely relied only on the main star. The author doesn't provide any information on the story of the movie and how the other members of the movie are cast. Even though, Robin Good is worth all the money that has been paid to him as the remuneration, the movie can still fail if the storyline is not good enough to attract viewers.
Thirdly, the author has reached the conclusion that the producers of the movie are likely to maximize their profits by referring to other financially successful movies where Robin has been paid a similar remuneration. This is a major flaw in the argument. The success of the previous movies cannot be directly correlated to the success of the future movies. Just because Robin Good was paid large remuneration in past financially successful movies doesn't guarantee commercial success in his future movies. This premise rather weakens the argument.
In summary, the author has presented a rather weak and unconvincing argument due to the above discussed points. The argument can be considerably strengthened if author can provide more information on the storyline of the movie, remaining members of the cast and other technical aspects of the movie.
