Hi,
Let me start by thanking you to take out the time to review my Profile.
I recently appeared for GMAT for the first time and scored 730 (IR-7;Q-50;V-38). What i seek to understand is if i should give GMAT another try to score higher in case it's needed to get into my target colleges.
Target schools:
- Harvard, Wharton, Stanford, Kellogg, Booth, Columbia, LBS (essentially the top 10)
Profile:
- Indian male, 27 years old
- Class X (CBSE) 85%; Class XII (CBSE - Science) 70%, Undergrad - BBA (finance, Amity University), CFA Charterholder (All levels first attempt given while working at HCL)
- I have a total of 5+ years of work-ex. First 2 years at HCL Technologies (Indian multinational IT services company) as an executive with the Workforce Planning cell working towards increasing the utilisation of resources and bringing cost efficiency in the organisation
- Next i joined Moody's Analytics where i'm currently employed and work with client investment bankers on various multi million dollar deals, helping them with all their financial research requirements, making pitchbooks and other related assignments
Extracurriculars:
- I'm National Secretary with People Rights Protection Society (India), working extensively to help the poor and oppressed to fight for their rights
- I'm also an active Member at the IAIP (Indian Association of Investment Professionals)
- i'm passionate for adventure sports including skydiving, trekking, rafting, bungee jumping and also a licensed scuba diver
Now here's my dilemma. Before appearing for GMAT i gave atleast 30 GMAT practice tests offered by various providers including manhattan, GMAT Prep, Veritas, Princeton Review, 800score, Veritas. In all the practice tests expect GMAT Prep i was never able to score above 690 my score ranged between 670-690. On GMAT prep i score 710 and 730. Going by the general opinion of experts on the matter one can expect to score anywhere between +/-30 points in the real test from his/her average score on the mocks. Based on theory my score of 730 was the best case scenario.
I researched a lot on the scores required to get into the top 10 business schools and found out that although my score is what the average score of a class is usually at my target colleges but since i'm Indian, the average score for acceptance for me is higher. Can you please help me understand my chances to get in with the current score. Also in your opinion if i would need higher score say 750 to get in my target schools.
Thanks,
Srikant Mahajan
