I was between 'D' & 'E', finally chose 'D'
The argument is about 'Lowering Taxes' so 'D' seems appropriate in spite of those extreme words. qhoc0010 you didn't word this, did you?

Nope, this question is from Princeton Review course. Does it sound like mine?

The OA is (B) by the way. I don't understand it either. But I will post explaination later.

between (B) and (E). my vote goes to (B) as (E) seems bit aggressive.

[quote="qhoc0010"]Poppy: High taxes have a chilling effect on the
economy. When individuals and corporations are
taxed, they have less money to spend. Demand for
products and services is reduced, causing unemployment
to increase. Taxes must be lowered.
Lilly: But you must also consider that taxes generate
funds for the government. If taxes are lowered, the
government will be forced to borrow more money,
thus reducing the amount of credit available. Unable
to borrow money easily, businesses and individuals
will be forced to limit their purchases.

Lilly objects to Poppy’s argument by

(A) claiming that Poppy has exaggerated the
adverse effects of high taxes
(B) indicating that Poppy has based his argument
on insufficient evidence about the effects of
taxes on the economy
(C) noting that Poppy has failed to adequately
define the term “taxesâ€

I think 'B' is the right answer.

Lilly says "You must also consider...", that means missing points should be included in Poppy's statement.

Answer 'B' clearly mentions that "indicating that Poppy has based his argument on insufficient evidence ..." and Poppy should consider the fact of generating funds for Govt.

I picked B

a) Did not hint that Poppy exagerated anything
b) Lily introduced other evidence supporting the effects of changes in taxes
c) Maybe true, but does no answer the question
d) cannot infer this from Lilly's argument
e) I"m not sure

It might be the case that E is more of an inference made by Lilly.
The question suggests the choice be a pattern of reasoning in Lilly's head.
Hence, B is the answer

E is flawed for two reasons:

Lily never talks directly about the economic benefits of easy credit. Instead she talks about the economic danger of not having easy credit.

Also, Lily never says that her argument *outweighs* Poppy's argument about unemployment. She simply says that "you must also consider".
