I took the GMAT for the first time this past Saturday and only scored a 490. I scored in the 50th percentile in the Verbal, but only in the 26th percentile on the Quantitative. The MBA program I'm applying requires at least a 50th percentile in each section (it's a Cal State School), so I won't be accepted with those scores.
In preparing for the exam, I found it tough because I graduated college almost 15 years ago. That required me to begin from the beginning in the math review. However, I did study quite a bit by purchasing the Kaplan book w/ CD, and I attended a somewhat worthless prep course over four weekends. I also work full time and have a family, so this also makes it tough (although I'm sure this is not a unique situation)
My question for all of you is: Is it possible for me to kick up the quantitative score to the 50th percentile by May 31, which is school's deadline to take the GMAT? I would appreciate your thoughts and any advice you could offer. Thanks!
P.S. - I wish I had found this community while preparing for the exam. I believe I would have done much better!
