Hi OwZey,

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
2) What materials have you used?
3) How have you scored on each of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?

Goals:
4) When are you planning to retake the GMAT?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
6) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hi OwZey,

Sorry to hear about your experience. I was in your shoes a couple of Months Back having scored really low in GMAT in my first attempt. Although I am no GMAT expert I would recommend you to look out for some professional courses to help you with your score. I can recommend some books that worked for me however I am not aware about the courses you used during for your studies. Just to help you out I am attaching some amazing list of practice questions I found through various posts on GMATCLUB. Further, to improve your score on Quant I would highly recommend trying out the GMATCLUB Quant tests. They are great resources to improve your quant score. Hope this helps. All the best. :)

Re: Help needed : Scored too low in Verbal f [#permalink]
Hello guys,

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
1- I actually have a mathematic background, and that's why I always scored 40-45 in Quant. I also prepared in Manhattan books but didnt see much improvement.
What can I do to capitalize on my background and get a better score?

2- As for verbal, I did not take the time to take courses, I only practiced with magoosh questions.

3- I took 3 practice test before taking GMAT, first I scored 680, then 620 and 610.

4- I have only one month for Both GMAT and TOEFL.

Thanks

Hi OwZey,

It's not clear exactly how long you studied, but it sounds like the bulk of your time was spent just working through lots of practice questions (without necessarily learning and practicing the proper Tactics nor learning the common patterns and little 'secrets' to the Test). Raising a 620 to a 700+ will require that you make some significant improvements to how you handle BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections - and that work will likely take another 2 months of additional guided study. In addition, since the Quant section of the GMAT is NOT a 'math test', your math background might actually be working against you a bit.

1) When are you planning to apply to Business School (and if it's soon, then what specific application deadline(s) are you facing?)?
