Statement is not sufficient because from the question stem v>u. We are unable to tell if x<u or x>u.
Statement 2 is sufficient. w<x is sufficient because w<x means u<x since v<w. In addition y>x hence we can conclude that v<y.
Answer is therefore B.

=> u<x<y<z
we do not anything about v here
Hence Insufficient.
Eliminate option (A) and (D)
From Statement (2)
w<x
=> w<x<y<z
Since u<v<w
=>u<v<w<x<y<z
=> v<y
Hence Sufficient
Answer choice (B)
From Statement (1)
u<x
=> u<x<y<z
we do not anything about v here
Hence Insufficient.
