Right triangle ABC is constructed on semicircle BCED, as shown above. If BO = OC, ∠BOD = 45°, and AC = 5, then what is the length of minor arc DE ?

Given BO = OC, ∠BOD = 45°, and AC = 5,
We need to find the length of minor arc DE => we need to know the ∠DOE and length OB/OC ie radius of the semicircle
St1. ∠BOD = ∠COE = 45°
therefore, ∠DOE = 90°but radius is not known
St1 is Not Sufficient
St2. ∠BAC = ∠BCA
implies triangle is right angled isosceles triangle with hypotenuse = 5.
then its sides/legs are \(\frac{5}{\sqrt{2}}\) in length or radius of semicircle is \(\frac{5}{(2*\sqrt{2})}\)
but angle ∠DOE is not known
so St 2 is Not Sufficient
combining st 1 and st 2... both ∠DOE and radius of the semicircle are known.
Hence length of minor arc DE can be found.
