Given: (the cost of p plums priced at 25 cents) = (the cost of p – 6 nectarines priced at 28 cents each)
Substitute values to get: 25p = 28(p - 6)
Expand the right side to get: 25p = 28p - 168
Subtract 28p from both sides of the equation to get: -3p = -168
Solve: p = (-168)/(-3) = 56
Answer: D
