If n is the number of employees at the company, then:

# retirement plan = 0.6n

# retirement & health plans = (0.2)(0.6n) = 0.12n

# health plan = 0.48n

Therefore, the fraction in question is:

0.12n/0.48n = 1/4

Let the number of employees in the company = x

We can jot down the information in a 2*2 matrix as shown below

Required Ratio = Number of employees in the health plan and in the retirement plan / Number of employees in the health plan

Required Ratio = \(\frac{60*20}{100*100} * x\) / \(\frac{48}{100} * x\)

Required Ratio = \(\frac{1}{4}\)
