Hi thelady02,

First off, a 680/Q48 is a strong Score, so it could be enough to get you into your first-choice School. As such, a retest might not be necessary. You're ultimately asking Admissions questions though, so you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement (and the more time that you have to act on that advice, the better). There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

https://gmatclub.com/forum/ask-admissio ... tants-124/

If you choose to retake the current version of the GMAT, then you might also choose to purchase the Enhanced Score Report. While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). If you purchase the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you.

Thanks GmatKnightTutor. I’ll reach out to consultants

GmatKnightTutor
Gratz on the improvement. Consider writing a profile-review. You could include your scores and mention the types of schools you're targeting. If you're thinking of retaking, the ESR may be worth checking out. If you share it here (after wiping any personal info), people may provide some specific suggestions as well.

I haven't been able to improve much on verbal.

Manhattan-Prep's 6th Edition for CR (and SC if you retake the classic GMAC) may be worth having a look at. For RC, becoming familiar with how inference questions work could be useful as well.

Thanks, ScottTargetTestPrep for the advice

Hi thelady02,

I agree that it would make sense to contact some admission consultants here at GMAT Club. If, after that, you decide to retake the GMAT, and need any advice, feel free to reach out.

Hi,

I appeared for the classic GMAT test today at the centre. Got 680; Q48, V35

I have been preparing for 4 months now. I started off with a 480; Q31, V25; so it is a considerable improvement.

However, I was aiming for a score above 700.

My scores in official mocks were quite low
>mock 1: 600; q47, v25
>mock2: 640; q48, v31
>mock3: 630; q47, v30
>mock4: 670; q48, v33
>mock5: 570; q44, v25
>mock6: 570; q46, v23

I haven't been able to improve much on verbal. I used official guide, Magoosh mikemcgarry, and GMATNinja for preparation. mikemcgarry, and GMATNinja, thank you for your videos.

I'm planning to apply to colleges like HEC, INSEAD, and NUS for their 1-yr MBA program. I have 6 yrs of experience and have a bachelors and masters in Computer Science (GPA: 7.0/10 in bachelors and 8.5/10 in masters).

Should I retake the focus edition and apply for 2025 intake or can I still apply to 2024 intake with current scores?

First off, congratulations on your considerable improvement in the GMAT.

Regarding your question about applying to schools like HEC, INSEAD, and NUS: whether or not a 680 is competitive can depend heavily on your overall profile, including your work experience and academic background. My advice would be to go ahead and apply for the 2024 intake with your current score. You've already shown a lot of progress, and schools consider more than just GMAT scores when evaluating candidates. If it works out, fantastic! If not, you always have the option to retake the GMAT and reapply for the 2025 intake. Good luck with your applications!

Thanks for the kind words, however, I'd like to apply in 2024 itself. I'm retaking the focus edition in a few weeks
