Hi,
I took my GMAT classic edition again on Jan 28 and I scored 640. This time my verbal score dropped from V-36 to V - 29. And my Quant score increased from Q-43 to Q-48. Now I took a 20-day break to recover from this setback. But I wish to muster up all the courage and prepare again for the GMAT focus edition. Since in all 3 three attempts I have scored in the range of 650, I wish to know if I have hit a plateau. I had even scored 780 in the GMATPrep mock 4 which I took 3 days before the test. I am not sure what was going wrong on the test day that led to a dismal performance. One thing I know is that in Verbal my concentration dipped. I am not sure where exactly I am going wrong.

Previously, I took my Gmat exam on December 14 and I scored 650. (Q-43, V-36). My accuracy in Quant dipped pretty much from my previous attempt. I took Verbal first and Quant next.  Though there was an improvement in Verbal from my previous attempt from V 27 to V 36, in quant, I messed up. It went down from Q 48 to Q 43, which is low. My SC accuracy improved to 95%, in RC it improved to 84%, while in CR it was 66%. While doing CR, it was comparatively taking more time for me. In Quant, my weak point is Geometry and Counting/Sets/Series. And how should I improve my CR accuracy?

Before that, I took my GMAT exam on October 13. And I scored 620 (Q-48, V-27). My accuracy in verbal was quite low from what I was getting in the mocks.

Honestly, I am quite devastated right now seeing such a huge drop in my verbal score. Preparing for the GMAT for back-to-back three attempts along with a full-time job was quite tedious and exhausting for me.
  • I am sceptical if I should switch to the GRE instead of the GMAT.
  • Or should I take a break and after that start preparing for the GMAT focus edition?

Can you please guide me about my future strategy? It would be beneficial for me.

Also, I have taken GMAT Focus Edition Mock 1 from the mba.com website and I scored 595 in that.

Kindly, let me know what I should do next as I have exhausted all the official GMAT materials for the classic edition and most of the LSAT materials for CR and RC.

Below, I am attaching my ESR of the three official attempts of the classic version for your understanding. Kindly please have a look at both of my ESRs and let me know what areas I need to focus on and how I should do that. I am also attaching the screenshot for the GMAT focus edition mock that I have taken.

As much as I am exhausted and frustrated, I want to give it one more shot and make it work in the focus edition this time. I wish to get a good score before the R-1 applications for Sep-25 intake. Do I need to start all over again? Since most of the things are in my head, how much time do you think is required for me since data insights is a completely new thing for me and I haven't prepared that much for it back then.

Thanks

No, you don't need to start all over again. You are already good at many topics and now you need to fix your gaps.

I have taken a look at your last 2 ESRs since they were in close succession so both were relevant. Some issues that stand out:

- Construction/Plan kind of questions in CR are a problem. Look at this video to know which question types come under this category.

- You are better at stated detail than inferred idea in RC so there may be some concerns your overall comprehension of the passage. Look at this video to learn how to assess the structure of a passage.

- Number Properties and Sets & Stats are an issue in Quant. Review your curriculum content of these two topics and then practice questions on them.

- Timing was a problem in both sections. You were consistently spending about 2.5 mins per question in the first quarter which messed up your timing later. If you got some easy questions later on, you ended up missing them because of lack of time. Figure out whether you are using the optimum methods to arrive at the answer. Estimation is a useful tool on GMAT.

- Stamina might be an issue since you are performing better in the section you attempt first. Try to study in continuous 2 hour or more sittings.

Your GMAT Focus mock attempt is promising. The score break up is balanced. Work towards improving some points in each section.
