The sentence started with a preposition - "in" should be parallel and comparison be straight. The sighting moment is being compared
"in no other historial sighting" Vs "in its return in 1910-1911"
A - is wrong since its missing the preposition "in"
B - wrong tense "had"
C, D make the same mistake as A.
E - makes comparision error - time (sighting) cannot be compared with verb (return)

Following MGMAT SC rule of splitting D and E can be eliminated as "helped the shaping" is awkward,
in option C like is used to introduce an action and that is not right.
A has same prob as C.
left with B and that's the OA.
