Q3:
By looking at the Question we can make out that "the number of ..... jumped .. at 1.34 million" is wrong and it should be "the number of people ..... jumped .. to 1.34 million "
with that we are left with B and C
Since B is more concise than C, I eliminated C.
B is the answer :)

In Q 3 .. Can any one explain what is wrong with option C ?
Generally the modifier .. who .. is preferred over gerunds rite ?
So that eliminates B
