They’re retiring the classic exam altogether by January end. Not the registration. So you’d count the 6 months from August onwards, up until January. You can still register for the classic version but you will only see dates available up until 31st Jan.
that means if I register this november for the classis gmat then I have to take it by jan 31 ie in 3 month time right?

That’s correct, yes. You’ll need to pick the date and slot of your exam at the time of registration.
