I actually have a pretty good grip on the basics. What i've noticed is that my problem is careless mistakes. Both times I scored lower on the Quant section I finished with 10 to 12 minutes remaining. Looking at my mistakes afterwards made me want to kick myself. If I can get myself to slow down and improve on Data Sufficiency I should be ok on the quant.

I really want to get my verbal score up. I broke down and order the MGMAT SC guide. There seems to be a concensus that this is the best way to improve on that area. I'm hoping that can help me hit 40 or 41 in and of itself.

Knowing your fundamentals backwards and forwards really helps to eliminate careless errors. DS is all about the basics, especially in number properties. The hardest questions are all about recognizing the relationships between numbers and seeing all of the possible situations for the problem. Fortunately, this is something you can learn through practice.
