Hello Everyone..
I am new to this forum so pardon me in case I am posting this on different forum or for violating any code of conduct .
I read and read various post over here and found out in order to seek help on starting GMAT prep, I need to appear for Diagnostic Test by GMATPrep to assess the situation.
I appeared for Practice Test-1 and following are the score: (utterly disheartened). (Skipped the Analytical section)
Q- 39
V- 20
IR- 5
Total -510
The score is way way below my expectation as I am aiming somewhere above 710, considering I am not in touch with studies from the past 4-5 months.
I am working in an MNC from the past 4+ years.
I could have easily scored 48+ in quant but due to time constraint and also due to not being in regular touch with studies I had to rush and while reviewing I figured out I missed on sitters.
For verbal, well I cannot say anything because it's dismissal. Just feeling a bit ashamed on fairing so poorly in Verbal. .
I feel, verbal is my considerably weaker part and I need strategy and plan to tackle it and ace it.
For Quant, although I feel a bit comfortable, still I want to prepare properly leaving no stone unturned and score maximum.
I need to understand how do I got about studying to achieve 710+. I have some 2 months time .
Can devote 1-2 hours on weekdays and 5-6 hours on weekends.
Please suggest proper study materials and action plan as I cannot afford to take it lightly and I am hellbent on devoting time to achieve my target score.
Please guide me. I am seriously waiting so that I can start the preparation asap as per the directions I get form here.

Many Test Takers start off with a practice score that they are not happy with, so you're not alone. There are plenty of ways that you can go about studying for the GMAT, but the limited study time you mentioned (2 months) is of some concern. Most Test Takers spend 3 months (or more) on their studies, but you're dealing with less time than that. You could still hit your score goal, but it will require some discipline on your part (and you'll probably want to invest in a GMAT Course of some type).
I have a few questions about your plans:
1) Why are you trying to do all of this in 2 months?
2) Is there ANY way to extend your studies (and push your Test Date back)?
3) Why do you think that you need a 710+? If you scored lower than that, would you still apply to School?
Thankfully, the GMAT is a predictable, standardized Test, so you CAN train to score at a much higher level.

Hey thanks for some insight.
My timeline of 2 months was nothing more than a time I was setting for myself. I can make it to 3 months easily as I want to be extremely well prepared before I appear for the test.
3 months for the preparation can be easily done. To be fair enough I am out of touch with studies for the past 1 year so I have to gear up and start focusing well on the prep.
3 months is doable. Shall not be a problem as I have not yet decided on the test date (somewhere it has to be in May,2015)
Well as on date I cannot think anything below 700 at all to be modest. Anything below 700 will take me into coma.
I am targeting very good schools in US as well as APAC and higher you score in GMAT, more are the chances. Obviously a lot depends upon your essays and CV too.
I am hell bent on preparing as instructed to score above 700. I already have MGMAT (all 8 guides), Powerscore (CR), GMAT OG-15th edition..
Help me plan my studies. Suggest a study plan . If any extra books are needed, kindly suggest.
