Total there were 15 pencils and total cost of Rs. 60
1/3 of 15 (i.e 5 pencils cost Rs. 2)
Total cost of 5 cheaper pencils = Rs. 10
2/3 of 15 (i.e 10 pencils cost Rs. 5)
Total cost of 10 expensive pencils = Rs. 50
If all expensive pencils fell out and only cheaper ones left;
Then, the lost pencils represented approximately
(50/60) * 100 = 83%
Hence, D is the answer

Solution:
Total cost of 15 pencils = \(Rs. 60\).
One-third of the pencils = \(\frac{1}{3}*15 = 5\) pencils.
Cost of these \(5\) pencils = \(Rs 2\) each = \(2*5 = Rs.10\).
Cost of rest \(10\) pencils = \(Rs 5\) each = \(10*5 = Rs.50\)
The question says that more expensive pencils fell out. This means that 10 pencils of Rs. 10 each fell out.
So, percentage of lost pencil cost to total pencil cost = \(\frac{50}{60}*100\) \(= 500/6 = 83.33%\)
Hence the right answer is Option E.
Total cost of 15 pencils = \(Rs. 60\).
