Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I took the Prep tests like the real exam. I sat in a room with no disturbance and took them fully including the essays. Though I may get little tensed, I did not go beyond the threshold. I could manage it. Moreover, these tests gave me some experience to learn how to stay cool. That is why I still cant figure out where I went wrong.
Yeah, always my quant score ranged from 48/49 to 50 and verbal from 30 -31 or 32. In the real exam, I feel I have under-performed in both the sections. Verbal was all the more bad. (20's - never got this score before )

May be it was not my day. May be I need more confidence...What ever, I need to ensure I do not make the same blunders again or I better stay away from further attempts. I should know whether am even qualified to give another attempt. Actually I did not have any big plans of cracking the GMAT long time. It so happened that I just gave a try because I had a break in my career. Since the course was interesting, I developed an inclination toward it. I thought I can dedicate my time completely and give the best shot. Initially my score was very low. Later when I started to work on, it improved and range was 680-720. But now, its time I check myself whether I am right to take another attempt or should I forget this GMAT totally ? Please advise.

Thanks :)
You should definitely retake... as your score is much below ur practice scores..u can get a significant improvement after practice

Thanks, but please let me know whether the below resources suffice.
1. OG 12th edition
2. SC Manhattan
3. Power Score CR Bible

Practice tests from MGMAT, Kaplan, 800score, GMatClub etc and all other net source materials and my class course material.

I personally don't feel that any other material than these would be required. May be reading and more practice in reading and comprehending dry passages could improve overall verbal stuff. But let me know if I had missed out any or I should be taking a different method altogether. I feel OG is the true bible. Anyway please let me know your views.

Thanks again.

OG 13 has been released. And you can also purchase the OG supplements - quant and verbal review. The study material looks sufficient for verbal but you haven't mentioned anything for quant

For Quant, I used the material from my course. The tests in Gmat Club, MGMAT and every other practice test available over the net. I feel everyday revision of the funda and the error log or the collection of challenge problems and areas where am weak would suffice and so dint mention any other extra material for Quant. Please let me know your views.

Thank you very much.

I took up a course at 4gmat. However, what I feel is, for Math strong basic funda is required irrespective of the course we are put to. Not sure whether am right, so let me know your views. Since I have already seen through the materials and since Math requires more and more practice, I thought it would suffice if I devote my time and continue to work as I worked these 5 to 6 months. May be I should concentrate on verbal part more? I really don't know..but its all what I feel I should be doing. I need to know from experienced people. And yes, as you said quality over quantity is very important.
Revising every single funda and error log everyday, reading as many passages (dry) as possible and comprehend them well, practice SC and CR tests available over the net, revising OG again and again to keep in touch..anything more? Doing these everyday should help get some good improvement is what I think. Kindly let me know if there is anything more I should be doing.

Thanks.

One suggestion that really helped me on my re-test and helps everyone who takes a test or is any stressful condition whether or not they notice it is to BREATHE PROPERLY. Deep breath in slowly through the nose, hold for a second, deep breath out slowly. Keep repeating this. I won't delve into the physiology and psychology behind it but if you control your breathing properly it will help you out tremendously and much more than you think it will I promise.

On a side note: The same exact thing happened to me when I took my first real GMAT. Scored a 600 after pulling 720 on prep tests. Scored a 700 on my second real Gmat with proper breathing and some tweaks to studying. Flashcards helped out a lot. You'll get there. Keep trying.
