I'll try to ask the question with an analogy. H/S/W is obviously the goal, but the overwhelming probability is that I don't get in. Let's imagine that we are comparing two schools: Opulent University and Midnight Oil College.
Opulent University is known by everyone in the world. It is consistently ranked among the best universities, globally. However, MBAs are not its specialty.
Midnight Oil College is seldom recognised, except by those in the know. It's high in the MBA rankings. Recruiters are aware of the rigour and drill at this school producing exceptional specialists. However, it lacks prestige.
Which of these schools is 'better'? Does recruitment at dream jobs tend to be dogmatic, bureaucratic and prestige-seeking? Or does the market have greater suction for underdog workaholics?
Its too much of a fantasy to visualize. Starting with H/S/W as reference point, I wonder which b-schools Opulent and Midnight could be - one is such a great university but not known for MBA, the other is among the greatest in the MBA programs, but has no prestige. Hard to draw real-life inferences from this data.
That said, in the current market scenario, i would lean towards an MBA that will help get you a job, especially if you are an international applicant.
Coming to the realities of life, the 780 GMAT looks good if its for real. You could achieve a lot more with it even if not H/S/W! Reach out for a consultation.
