What if x = 13, then x -4 = 9 which is not a prime. I do not find the answer in the choices provided.

the question says "could be" not must be. so D could be a prime.

Yes, Himalaya you are right. I should have read the question more focussed. I agree The answer should be D.

x^2=x*x not prime
x/2 not an integer, not prime
3x=3*x not prime
X^2+1 is an even number greater than 2, not prime
