Hello,
I found the following list from the problem solving question bank. The list is a categorical overview for PS question types.
1. Absolute value
2.Algebra
3. Arithmetic
4. Combinations
5. Coordinate Geometry
6. Distance/Rate Problems
7. Divisibilty / Multiple Factors
8. Exponents/ Powers
9. Fractions/Ratios/Decimals
10. Functions and Custom Characters
11. Geometry
12 Graphs and Illustrations
13. Inequalities
14. Min/Max Problems
15. Mixture Problems
16 Must or could be true problems (not on DS)
17. Number properties
18. Overlapping Sets
19. Percents and Interest Problems
20. Probability
21. Remainders
22. Roots
23. Sequences
24. Stats
25. Word Problems
26. Work Rate
This is indeed a very thorough list of problem types. However, I want to know if anyone here, GMAT experts, looking at you, have compiled a more niche, all encompassing categorical overview of the types of GMAT problems; more clearly, number 11. Geometry, is just Geometry; there is a lot of subcategories of geometry. Same with word problems; it is a broad category that needs specification for a well defined mapping of problem solving categories.
I just finished reworking the problems I missed from the 2017 OG PS section, and now I need more experience; so, my plan is to work a sub 500, 500, 600, 600+ problem from every category, just to be secure.
Furthermore, I know there are some Legacy GMAT experts out there, who probably calculated the probability of encountering a certain type of problem solving question; for example, what are the odds of us seeing three work/rate/widget problems within one exam. Sounds extreme, I know, but I plan to take the exam on Oct 25th, so I need to manage risk and time.
Thanks
