Hi,
I have started preparing for the GMAT in March, having subscribed to
Magoosh. I have watched all their videos, and have done nearly half of the practice questions available, and I felt there has been an improvement in my knowledge. However, I took my first full CATs a few days ago, and my score was a disappointing 620 in
Magoosh (Q39/V36) and 610 in the official GMAT prep (Q43/V31)
After having studied for 2 months (1-2hrs during weekdays, 3-4hours during weekends) with
Magoosh, I was expecting a higher score (given that I generally am a good test taker, and have an MSc and an LLB from top London universities). Having analyzed my results (most of my wrong answers were DS and SC), I am thinking that I may have a problem with my strategy, spending too much time on RC and quickly passing through SC (making silly mistakes as a result), and definitely have some problems with understanding the strategy of DS. I feel that
Magoosh has given me a good basis in terms of knowledge, but I am still lacking the strategy to perform consistently and not make silly mistakes in DS and SC.
I am planning to take the exam in 2 months time (beginning of July) and I clearly need to change my strategy as only doing practice Qs from
Magoosh and
OG may not be enough to improve drastically. My target score is a 720-730 as I am planning to apply for a PhD at a top London uni.
I have signed up for the free Economist GMAT tutor trial, and I am finding the way they explain SC good, and have also signed up for their free 1-on-1 tutoring session on strategy, which may be helpful. I am wondering whether you guys recommend me paying for Econ.GMAT or any other GMAT test prep course, or sticking to
Magoosh, going through their videos once again, drilling the
OG and doing more CATs to get a feel of it? What is the best way to improve my test taking strategy? Thanks a lot
