Hi all I am facing a bit of a strange situation. HEC's application includes the following questions as part of the professional experience section: - Current Position from (month/year) - Entrance in company - Annual Starting Salary (in €) - Annual Salary (in €)
Some background: 1. I did my Masters in the US and started with my company there in July 2014. My annual starting salary was ~58,000 EUR. 2. I shifted to India in July of 2017 with the same company for various reasons, both professional and personal. Due to market conditions and cuts in cost of living between India and the US, I could not get the same salary I was earning in the US just before the move (which had grown to ~64,000 EUR) in India. My starting salary in India was ~19,000 EUR. I now earn ~25,000 EUR - a good growth in the 2.5 years I have been in India.
Here is my predicament: 1. For Current Position from - should I put in the answer as 07/2014 (when I started with the company in the US) OR 07/2017 (when I moved to India)? - If I put in 07/2014, it shows that I have been with the same company for 5.5 years which would be good from a profile eval standpoint as it demonstrates loyalty and growth. - If I put in 07/2017, that won't make sense as I would be mentioning in my essays that I worked with the same company starting in July 2014 in the US and then shifted to India.
2. As such, how can I put in the annual starting salary? - If I put in 58000 EUR (the salary I started with in the US), and my current Indian salary being 25000 EUR - it shows a negative growth. - I could put in my starting salary as 12000 EUR which would have been the equivalent starting salary had I joined the company in India in July 2014 with the same position as I started with in the US, but that would be too less an amount for someone with my background having a Masters from the US.
I am stuck with these questions. Would be great if anyone could provide guidance on this! Will be happy to clarify any questions you may have.
Archived HEC Discussion
Hi there,
You've stumbled upon an old discussion from our HEC Forum
that's now outdated and has been archived. No more replies are possible here.

for all fresh things related to the HEC MBA program.
As you have stated there are 2 different questions - Current Position from (month/year) -> since when you have your current position - Entrance in company-> the time you first joined the company
With regard to the salary growth, you can explain any discrepancies in the optional essay so there is no need to worry too much about it.
However, you can always ask the HEC team itself (they are more than willing to help) what starting salary you should refer to, the 58000 EUR or the 19000 EUR, I do not know what would be the right answer to this one.
