Background:
Apply as an international student from Mainland China. I have pending investor immigrant status in the U.S. but won't receive the residence until next year.
I went to a community college in the U.S. at 18-yo and then transferred to a state flagship university (national ranking 100+, business school ranking 50+).
Finished undergraduate study in three years with double majors (mgmt and marketing), GPA 3.5+.
Professional experience:
1-year college internship at a non-profit. (2012-2013)
1-year international trading (import & export) (2014)
1-year consulting (2015)
Started my educational consulting and English training company in 2016, fund-raised and expanded in 2017, sold the company in 2019. Accomplishment: assisted hundreds of students.
Joined my second venture in 2017 after acquiring a pharmaceutical company. Acted as managing partner of sales, increased annual revenue from $500k to $10 mil in 5 years.
Open restaurant management company in 2018, established two restaurants, both operated successfully but closed in 2020 after the pandemic.
GMAT online score 780, Q51, V48, CR8, AW6.
Career goal: make a transition to venture capital, with an alternative option of consulting.
Applied:
HBS (dinged), GSB(nothing yet but no more hoping), Sloan(dinged), Booth(dinged).
CBS(submitted), Tuck(interviewed), Kellogg(interviewed).
Target: I want to get into M7 schools but currently the odds are very low. I plan to utilize R2 opportunities with Wharton, Haas, etc. However, not sure about my competitiveness.
Weaknesses in my application:
1. Undergraduate experience and GPA not competitive;
2. Lack of work experience in well-known companies, and no tech background;
3. Age (30-yo next year)
4. Essay (Couldn't be able to draft satisfactory essays)
I want help with: profile evaluation, application strategy, essay editing.
