Hey guys, Im planning on doing and MBA in the future and Im looking for advice on how I could make my profile as strong as possible. Im Spanish and have studied in the UK so im not as knowledgeable on what US unis look for. Ideally I would like to go to MIT. A brief description of my profile:
Spanish
21 years old
GMAT 720 (But ill probably have to retake as it could expire before I apply)
Msc Finance LSE (No grade yet) (I received a merit based scholarship covering the whole cost from a private company)
Undergrad, top 10 uk, 1st class honours
No relevant work experience at the moment.
CFA Level 1 passed

Ideally I would like to work in consulting in the PE group or in IB. MBB preferable bc they'd cover the cost of an MBA which is something I really want to do. What could I do to add weight to my profile?

Hey jppresa,

It's great to hear that you have an impressive background with international exposure and a solid academic foundation from LSE. Your scholarships and CFA level 1 certification also add to your strong profile.

However, when it comes to getting into top business schools for an MBA program, it's important to note that most schools require at least 2-3 years of work experience.

But, don't let that discourage you! With your impressive GMAT score of 720, you have a solid chance of getting into top schools with a bit of work experience under your belt. Additionally, gaining work experience and publishing research papers can further strengthen your profile.

If your goal is to get into consulting or MBB firms in the near future, consider a Master's in Management program instead of an MBA. This can provide you with the necessary skills and experience to reach your career goals. However, keep in mind that these programs also require a certain amount of work experience.

If you are targeting USA, then you can look at schools like:

1. Cornell
2. Michigan Ross
3. Northwestern Kellogg
4. Duke University
5. Georgetown

If you are targeting Europe, then you can look at schools like:

1. London Business School
2. LSE
3. Imperial
4. HEC Paris
5. ISEAD
6. ESCP
7. IE Business School

If you need more help, we'd be happy to setup a call and give more pointers on how to improve your profile and the right schools you should target.

Hello

Your profile already has the makings of a great application for top business schools in the US.

* You have international experience
* You have a great GMAT score (you could always try and improve upon it)
* You have a strong undergrad brand and a masters from LSE

You haven't mentioned any extracurriculars. So that's one area you could work on.

The most important missing ingredient would be work experience though. You would need to work for at least 3 to 4 years before applying to top schools such as MIT. And make sure that your work experience is relevant/exciting.

You can also bolster your application by pursuing online courses in your field and working on independent projects.

All the best!

Regards
