To be honest with you, all of these top b-schools may focus on one thing or another, but the truth of the matter is, every top b-school will provide you the avenue to where you're travelling to, and the rest is going to depend on how much legwork you, yourself, want to put in. Whether you attend Harvard, Kellogg, Booth, or Haas, they will all give you the opportunity to pursue your dream career. Sure, we can talk about a strong focus or concentration in a certain field, but that also has to do with location, the student body, the original culture of the school, as well as the companies that recruit from the school. Northwestern Kellogg excels in many shapes and forms, especially in the consulting field where M/B/B recruit heavily from every year (as indicated on its employment report). And in all honesty, once you gain admission into one of the top 10 b-schools in the states, it really matters little whether you attend Tuck or Wharton because both will offer you the same opportunity. One way to determine whether that specific opportunity suits you best is to look at its employment report. Last, but not least, it will really depend on you whether you want to be in a class of 900 people or a class of 230, and whether you want to be in the middle of nowhere, or whether you want to be in a city, and whether you want to focus heavily in case studies, or whether you prefer more lecture-based (though most schools tend to do case methods more often than not).

wow, your response was quite insightful. It really made me think. I was focusing a lot on prestige and still think that is important, atleast for me, but I am thinking more about location etc and less prestige. I looked at Northwestern and I really like their exchange opportunities.

Thanks!

Maybe I should know this and I have an idea, but what schools have the best brand name among the Chinese and what schools are known for finance in the states?

This is going to be a broad answer, and at the least, a bit stereotypical.

Brands in Chinese mind are basically college names that people can associate with. As such, Harvard, Stanford, UPenn, Northwestern, MIT, and Duke are all namebrands that Chinese people/parents/kids/friends associate with the most. Of course, there are other ones but more or less, if you go up to a Chinese parent and ask whether they've heard of the name Stanford, they have.

For finance in the states, Wharton (UPenn), Chicago Booth, Columbia, NYU, and UCLA are all good schools, but again, all top b-schools can get you to where you need to be.
