Hi,

Could you please evaluate my profile

Male - 31,
Asian,
Total Experience - 10 years in financial services mainly in financial analytic, data modeling, trade system, and data management.

GMAT- 1st attempt - 710, AWA 6. (I might be able to get a bit higher but not sure if I should take the chance of getting lower... please advise)
Under grads - Bachelors in Computer Science and Math
Grads - Master in Marketing

Target schools - Stanford, Columbia, Dartmouth (Tuck), HBS, Sloan, Yale, NYU, Northwestern (Kellogg), Booth, Wharton

Hello ruiheh, thanks for your question.

Before I definitively comment on your GMAT, what were your verbal and quantitative breakdowns? We typically recommend 80%+ on both.

I can’t really comment on your competitiveness without more information. What kind of leadership experience have you had? Does your desired career path truly necessitate an MBA? How are your post-university extracurriculars?

With your amount of experience, have considered an EMBA?

Hi Brian, thank you for your feedback. If I may, I can forward you my resume. Can you PM me your email address?

My breakdowns are Verbal, quantitative, AWA breakdowns – 87%, 85%, 91%

What kind of leadership experience have you had?
yes, I have been in leadership role for the last 6 years or so but it seems that I am stuck... One of the primary reason why i want to get into a good MBA program.

Does your desired career path truly necessitate an MBA?
I think so. Especially, when you are surrounded by a flock of young MBA graduates who are eager to replace you...

How are your post-university extracurricular?
I enjoy working with kids, so I signed up for big brothers and sisters about 6 years ago, working with underachieved individuals and financially striated families. However, I only tutored 3 kids in total… Not sure if it can help. But all of them that I tutored, I tutored them very extensively. One of them just graduated from BU and another one is now a system engineer.

With your amount of experience, have considered an EMBA?
If I wanted an EMBA, I would not have taken the GMAT. :)

Hello ruiheh, thanks for your follow-up.

Your GMAT seems solid.

Your Big Brothers/Sisters work is solid, especially for that amount of time. I don’t think tutoring more kids is necessarily better than building deep relationships with a few. The length of your tenure speaks for itself.
