Hi All,
First of all let me say that this is an excellent forum for all B-School applicants and specifically the Peer Review section is simply amazing.
Here's my profile. Wud appreciate a review.
Nationality - INDIAN
Work Ex- 4 yrs as a S/W engineer. Worked in product development companies based out of U.S.Have got multiple appreciation awards.
GMAT- 710 (V-40 , Q-48)
Undergrad- B.Tech from NIT Allahabad(NIT's are one of the most reputed colleges for Engineering in INDIA. Not sure that will be of any help though). C.G.P.I- 8.51/10 (Not sure how much that turns to be when converted to scale of 4). Topped the class in final semseter with a full SPI of 10/10
Community- Participated in a community programme via my Company in which we used to provide free computer classes to underprivileged kids.
Target Schools-2013 class
R1- ISB , LSB (Long Haul), Cambridge
R2- Said, Cranfield,Queen's(Canada)
I have specifically not mentioned any U.S. based school since i couldn't find any school in U.S. offering 1 yr Full time MBA, and with 2 years, the fees and financing will be out of my reach.
I have targeted the above mentioned schools keeping in mind their 1 yr tenure and comparatively less fees and hoping to get some kind of scholarship(LSB is an exception..as i mentioned... Long Haul ).
Wud appreciate if someone could suggest any other good school
Post MBA- Can continue in Hi-Tech industry say in a Product management group. But am also open to a change in industry. Basically wud like to keep my options open.

There are many good 1 year MBA programs programs in the US. Cornell has accelerated MBA program and I think Columbia also has something similar.
Looking at your post MBA goals, look out for the schools such as CMU and Berkley Haas.

Since you are aiming for top schools then a score above 700 is desirable. However GMAT alone won’t determine your chances of admission; beyond the academics will also help you in determining your candidature and your work experience plays a vital role as well.
Generally most of the Indian applicants are from engineering background with a good 4-5 years of work experience. Although it is not just the work experience that counts but also what you did there like-what were your achievements, what initiative you took, what changes you drove in your workplace etc. So you need to ensure that in your 4 years of work experience you have demonstrated the skills business schools are looking for. This could still put in a strong set of essays for you. So you would need to differentiate yourself from remaining pool of applicants.
Start thinking what makes you unique and what’s that ‘hook’ that will be key to your application. Make sure you follow the ‘show rather than tell’ principle so that the admissions committee could really understand your strengths and differentiating factors.”
Hence the quality of your work, your academics and beyond academics will play an important role in determining your candidature.
