Hi all,
Can you please let me know your views on my profile?
1) Basic demographic info:
32/Male/Indian citizen, currently living in the USA for the past 4.5 years
2) Educational Background:
UG : Bachelor of Technology (Industrial biotechnology)
UG score : 68% (WES evaluated GPA = 3.39)
GMAT : 680 (Q50,V31)
I can increase my score between 720 and 740 depending on the amount of prep I would put in for 2nd attempt.
3) Work experience:
11 years of IT experience. I had continuous growth until 3.5 years ago. I was in management role that time. I started freelancing on technical side for the past 3.5 years. So, there has not been much growth, position wise.
4) Extra curriculars: Not sure what all count from the below
a) I was actively involved in NSO (national social service) group in the first 2 years of my college. I was part of the selected few members from my university to attende a national integration camp. As part of NSO, I picked up a illiterate from a near by village and taught her how to read and write our regional language, for one year.
b) I was member of hospitality committee of the national level symposium conducted by our seniors in the year 1997.
c) I was in charge of hospitality committee of the national level symposium conducted by us in the year 1998.
d) Actively participated in various Oracle technology related online forums during initial days of my career.
e) Presented a white paper in international OAUG (Oracle Applications Users Group) conference held in Colorado in the year 2008. This paper was based on one of the complex implementation that I had done earlier.
f) Actively participated in astrology related forums for 2 years. I have a lot of interest in astrology, but it took back seat because of other priorities.
g) Actively participated in share trading related online forums for sometime. I helped some forum members by writing code based on their trading logic. I had written code based on candle stick charting too.
h) I have been very active in conducing games for birthday parties of friends' kids.
5) Short/Long term goals:
Short term goal: Establish a scalable successful career to meet my immediate financial needs and also build a strong profile as middle or senior level executive. The new position can be anything that would help me in long term career as I feel I am good at learning new stuff. My current job pays me well and very much a safe job. However, it is not scalable because of minimal exposure to business side.
Long term goal: Join a large firm or start up a own firm to implement the kind of projects that would help society as whole. I need good experience and resume for this and my short term goal is all about that.
6) Schools:
INSEAD
IMD
Chicago Booth EMBA
7) Other information:
First generation graduate from family.
Career growth wise, I had seen my earning potential increase by 60 times in the first 7.5 years and then stalled at the same for the past 3.5 years.
I am confident that I can improve my GMAT score. But, the question is about the safe score and the amount of effort I might need to put.
Like most of the people, I can get good recommendations.
thank you
