In all honesty things are going to be fairly difficult for you for R3 applications. You are a bit on the older side (H/S in particular seem to be trending towards younger applicants) and come from a fairly broad/common pool of applicants (India educated male in IT). While a R3 acceptance is not impossible, there is probably no margin for anything other than a perfectly executed application package. As you already know, the top programs are all very highly competitive, and getting in R3 is just that much more difficult.
Hopefully, you have a good set of ECs and/or hobbies/passions that you can use to differentiate yourself from other applicants with very similar backgrounds. If not, I’m afraid you will be fighting an uphill battle, and it would be unrealistic to expect an acceptance to a top 10 program this year.
R3 deadlines are approaching fast, so if you are set on applying, I would focus on maybe 2-3 schools max and give it my best shot. I hope there are a few schools in particular from the top 10 you are set on…just saying I want top 10 is not going to be good enough.
