Hi,
My name is Jean-Baptiste, and I have hard time deciding which program to apply to between a 2-year MiM at LSE versus a 1-year Msc In management, Organisation and Governance.
Here is what I want from LSE :
- Get in there, with a slight preference for the 2-year program.
- Learn Management
- Get a good job from it
My profile is :
- Senior in a B.A of Economics at Sorbonne University. Ranked in top 10 percents for the last 2 years
- Enrolled in an exchange program between Sorbonne University and Baruch College, City University of New York. Currently studying in New York.
- GMAT : 630 (I know it is quite low)
- President of a large student organization in 2012-2013, 4 summer jobs in a row in American summer camps, the last year with a position of director (= Manager)
- I plan to apply in the next 2 weeks
My questions are :
- Is the 2-year MiM more selective than the other 1-year MSc in Management ?
- Do I have a chance to get accepted in the 2-year Master In Management from LSE ?

Hello Jean-Baptiste,
It's a tough question you ask, because a lot will depend on your preference rather than what is objectively "better". On the one hand the advantage of the one year program is just that. It's only one year, and at the end of that year you will likely be as employable as from the two year MiM. You might prefer the two year program though, both for the time and the breadth of the program. Another thing to consider is whether you plan/wish to do an MBA later on. With an MiM it makes less sense to go ahead and do another degree, but with an MsC it makes more sense.
As for your chances, it's hard to say without knowing more about your academic performance, but let's say that with a low GMAT it will be a bit tough.

In France, we do not have GPA, the marks are over 20. Below is a (really) quick overview of my grades in University :
1st year : 12.51/20 average; rank : 127/655
2nd year : 14.137/20 average; rank : 40/529
3rd year : 13.609/20 average; rank : 35/460
This year : Exchange student at Baruch College, likely to get an A in each of my classes, it is way easier than in Sorbonne University.
So, in your opinion, the MiM isn't more selective than the MSc Management, Organisation and Governance ? I am not willing to do an MBA, as 630 will be to low to get a decent one, in terms of quality price ratio. However, It seems to me that the MiM will be harder to get in, as it is much more famous/prestigious than the other 1-year Msc in Management. I say that because it is part of the CEMS which is a circle of top-ranked universities like HEC, which would never accept my application. What makes you think that the MiM is not more selective than the other 1-year MSc in management ?
I really value your help, as I was not able to find this information by myself.
