It is awesome that people here take the time to give evaluations/feedback on profiles! I look forward to hearing some on mine:
Gender: Male
Age: 28 when I apply
GMAT: 720 (Expected)
Bachelors: University of Mumbai (Large university in India, considered average) - Engineering, IT - GPA 68/100
Masters : Iowa State (Ames, IA, USA) - Computer Engineering - 3.89/4.0
UC Berkeley Extension : Certificate in Management - 4.0/4.0 <- Don't know if this helps
Application plan: IMD R2- Jan 2015 intake, All others R1 - September 2015 intake
International Exposure:
-Studied in India till Bachelors, studied and worked in the US ever since (6 years).
- Responsible for global sales/marketing of product I manage so I have significant interaction with sales reps/customers across the globe.
Extra curricular:
- Held leadership role in a student organization involved in community service at Iowa State
- Volunteer tutor for underprivileged high school kids for the past year (2 years when I apply)
Work experience:
- 4.5 years when I apply,
- 4 years in gradually senior engineering positions designing microchips.
- Recently promoted to Product Manager (8 months at application), responsible for deciding the strategy of the product in terms of marketing, sales, technology partnership as well as future engineering requirements.
- Currently work in the Silicon Valley in a small high tech company that is owned by a Fortune 500 company. etc.
Achievements:
- First employee of a tech start up (Worked there for 2 years, gradually got involved in all aspects of running the company)
- Full scholarship for Masters

Hi,
Thanks for posting. Generally I'd say you have a strong profile, though of course keep in mind that GMAT can make an impact, hopefully in a positive way, but since you said 'expected' I have to throw that caution out there!! If you met your GMAT goals, I think you would be well-positioned, with a strong application & essays, for a shot at the schools on your list. There ARE a large # of Indian engineering applicants, but if you emphasize how you stand out-- your management experience; how you've been exposed to most facets of running a company; leadership; international experiences; promotion, etc, it looks to be a strong profile. The solid academics, management certif, and volunteering are also all small pluses. Remember to detail your post-MBA goals and rationale for them further, basically convince the programs that you NEED this degree, it needs to be from their school (concrete reasons!), and that you know what you'll do with the degree afterwards.
