Please evaluate my profile:
Nationality : Indian
Age: 24
GMAT : 720(Q51, V35, IR8, AWA?)
- Not very high in my applicant pool (Indian+Engineer)
-Skewed away from VA
Acads:
- GPA: 8.43/10 from BITS Pilani (Pilani campus) in Electronics and Instrumentation- 2012 .(top 10 college in the country)
- Some technical projects in college
WE:
- Almost 2 years at Texas Instruments as Analog Design Engineer.
(Semiconductor mfg industry, not IT which is the more common background)
- Relatively new to the job but a good growth rate.
- Some leadership initiatives shown at work
Voluntary roles:
- Worked with a couple of social org at colleges
- Have been teaching at a local school for underprivileged children every Saturday for the last 2 years as part of the corporate CSR activity. Organized some science exhibits
Others:
- Completed 3-4 humanities electives in college: History, International relations, Modern Pol Concepts etc.
- Coursera courses like Strategy, Operations, Economics
Extra Curricular:
Good profile in sports: A lot of medals in football(soccer) and cricket at College and Corporate levels.
Please evaluate this profile and give your suggestions.
Other questions:
1. Do I need to retake the exam, the score being slightly low and slightly skewed?
2. What programs should I apply to (relatively less WE)?
3. Given that I am prepared to wait a couple of years more, what steps can I take to further strengthen my profile? or should I look at options like MIM?

Hey there dude,
So let's start with your questions.
1. It depends. Is this your first time taking? is this near your highest potential? Honestly, with a 720 you are good. And unless you are at least 90% sure you will get more, you don't need to retake. You can give this a read though: to-retake-or-not-to-retake-that-is-the-question-indian-153716.html
2. Better to figure this out in a couple of years dependent on your Work Experience. But say somewhere around schools in the Top 30?
3. Well, first of all, wait at least one more year. The single more important thing at this point, now that your GMAT is in the bag (oh yeah, did I congratulate you yet? congrats!) is your work experience. What schools look for is: a( amazing achievements b) Big responsibilities c) Leadership d) A quick promotion schedule. If you move up LOTS and FAST that is the single best way to impress the AdCom (even though I know this is not always entirely under your control). Other than that: a) more activities, and better activities (ideally those with leadership b) one really good solid volunteer work - teaching is great! And you should continue. But it's a bit common, esp. for Indian candidates, so if you can think of anything you can do, or better yet LEAD as a volunteer, that would be fantastic. c) anything extra - like entrepreneurship, patents, publications,
I think that's a good place to start. But otherwise your profile is quite nice. You come from a very good school with good grades, and although "Tech" a bit better of an industry than IT. So those are all good points to start from

1. Yes. This was my first time. I think I can do slightly better. But I ll keep it on the back burner as of now.
2,3. I do have some leadership exp. Its not directly related to my work(flat org structure :/ ). But, I have organized events at office(sports tournament, led a team of 10). Other than that I have led a team in organizing the science festival at the school where we teach.

Further, can you give me more info on options like MS Finance and where do I stand if I am targeting this program. Is it necessary to have certifications like CFA, FRM to get admission in such programs. Which schools can I target if I apply this year?
