Employment: 5 years at a brand strategy consulting firm. Promoted twice. Currently manage teams of 2-4 and responsible for full project delivery of projects ranging from 200k to 1.5M (~3M annually)
Significant Accomplishment: Working on the very first project our company did with a client who has now become our biggest (in terms of revenue) across the firm globally.
Volunteer Activities/Hobbies/Interests: 2006 – 2011: Part of a NYC-based theater company. I performed as the lead role in an (eventual) off-Broadway musical. I played the lead role during the show’s whole creative process leading to the off-Broadway run — workshops in NYC and Tennessee for industry execs.

Thanks for your post. You have a lot of strong points in your profile. Your experience at the brand strategy consulting firm, including recognition & promotion, and leading teams and projects, will position you well to bring experiences and perspective to your b-school discussions. Your theater experience is interesting and less common and also speaks to communication & presentation skills. Your undergrad GPA from Stern is strong. Your international experience, including living abroad, will also be a plus. (Side note I lived in London several years as well, great city!). Your GMAT is a touch lower than the average at the top schools you mention…. So a slight weakness. But if the rest of your application is very strong and the school really likes you as a candidate, a 700 will not hold you back in most cases. I don’t know if you have any volunteer or community involvement; that would be another plus and is common among competitive applicants.
Keep in mind that at top ranked programs, it’s quite competitive even if your profile is strong… so your ‘personal’ factors, such as what you show about yourself in your essays, recommendations and interviews, can make a big impact. So can showing a ‘fit’ with each particular school!

) My first reaction is, well you may not want to make the theater experience your MAIN point in that it's not likely the sole focus of what you want to show or share about yourself for b-school... BUT it could still be used as a method of showing some of your skills or strengths, or maybe connecting it to what you've learned there that you've used in the business world... and/or as an engaging intro or anecdote... so there are ways you could use it; really depends on the question and the point/s you are trying to get across!
