Hello,
I have taken GMAT recently and scored 720. I am a head of internal audit department at one of the companies (Chemicals manufacturing industry) in Georgia (Caucasus, not state). I also had experience leading ERP implementation department at some other manufacturing company (metallurgical industry). Total experience about 6 years. I have graduated one of the best business school in Tbilisi, Georgia and also was an exchange student (Erasmus Mundus) to Estonian business school. What do you think, what are the chances to get my way to Columbia university or NYU Stern? As to total salary of my family is below 20 000 USD, what do you think are chances to get scholarship?
P.s. my age: 25
graduated from university in 2011
GPA at the university : 3.18
have been working full-time since my 3rd year of BBA
Hey there!
So a few thoughts. First - Congratulations!!!! Fantastic GMAT score... Pat yourself on the shoulder there.
Your strengths are:
1. Coming from Georgia! - Do you have any idea how FEW candidates are from Georgia.
2. Leadership! - You head an entire department!
3. Still young
4. Awesome GMAT.
Your only weakness is your GPA, which is a biiit low, but we can also see if we can do anything there.
Basically B-school is PERFECT for you.
Now here's a tip and some good news: You will get into a good B-school if you have a good application. Now when you look at tuition, just IGNORE it. It doesn't matter. Why? Because even if you pay 150,000$ for two years, your post MBA salary, if you graduate from the right school will jump to about 120-150K. And basically, the better school you go to, the higher your salary will likely be. It's an investment in your future. So, do some research about student loans (international students have different conditions) and my advice: simply go to the BEST school you get into.
Best,
Jon
