Name: ABHISHEK JHA

Work Experience: 6+ years of experience in manufacturing industry, currently shift in-charge (supervisory level) in Jindal Steel and Power Ltd., Raigarh (C.G.), INDIA

Test Scores with breakup: GMAT 590 (Q45 V25) Actual test date 19 JULY 2017 (after 3 attempts :problem: )

Interested in: Full time MBA

Profile summary

In 10th I scored 70% (first division)

In 12th I scored 57% (due to some serious health problems in my family) (second division)

In B.Tech I scored 62% (first division)

Participated in "aao hum digital ho jaye" programme, sponsored by IGNOU (to increase awareness regarding the benefits of digital transactions in INDIA)

Participated in various activities during school days.

This year awarded as a "GEM of JSPL" by the Jindal Steel and Power Ltd., INDIA (present company)

I am from steel sector (Manufacturing), we need to handle shifts (day/night) and with such hectic schedule (physically/mentally) I studied for GMAT and gave the examination thrice and the best I scored was only 590.
Please suggest some good B-schools (obviously not the group-A category as they will kick my application out) in USA or Europe where I can apply.

Hey abhi4212

Thanks for getting in touch. Sounds like you've had a tough time with the GMAT. The good news though is your Quant score at 45 is strong so schools will know that you have the quantitative ability to succeed. It's a shame about the verbal. With a 590, it will indeed be a challenging process but it sounds like you're pretty open to schools, which will help you. You also have a great brand name on your CV which may also help you.

For the US schools, two things for you to consider: location and what you want to do with your life. This will help narrow down your list of options to schools that you will enjoy going to. For example, do you want a city environment? more rural surrounding? Do you want to be on one of the coasts? By an airport, etc.) Also, which schools have the types of jobs you want. A few schools to consider off the top of my head...Rutgers, Case Western Reserve, University of Pittsburgh, SUNY Buffalo.

Alternatively, I think you could look at European schools like Cass, EDHEC, Bath Again though, consider location and goals.

I hope that helps!

Krista
