Hello all,
Need suggestions on the following:

I am an MBA aspirant from India with 3 years of work experience in analytics.
GMAT Score: 720 (quant-50, Verbal-38, AWA-5, IR-7)
Undergrad GPA - 8/10

Should i retake the GMAT and aim for a higher score?
What are realistic target universities which i can consider?
What more can i do to enhance my profile/resume?
Does the score affect my chances of scholarship?

Hi Mohit,

Your GMAt score is pretty decent, but it all depends on which b-schools are you targeting?

Ofcourse, an admit decision is taken based on several factors- your academics, career progress, ability to make impact, leadership potential etc. and we don't really have the full picture here. But speaking in very broad terms, I'd say you should aim for the b-schools after the top 10 if you are looking at the US. Infact, I'd like more clarity over where you wish to study.

Also since you are asking about enhancing your profile, I'd like to know whether you are applying this year or later. With this limited information, I can't really tell how you should make your profile better, but do feel free to share your resume with us for a consultation.

Hello all,
Need suggestions on the following:
So while a 720 IS a very good score, it is also a score that is just barely at the top of the big traffic jam of applicants- meaning that there are many from India also with a 720 so it does not really set you apart- but it does start to get you a little separated from the crowd of people with 700 scores. If you are targeting a top 10 program, then you may want to retake. But if you want to apply with this score, there are some programs where you will get a good look- keep in mind that I have seen candidates with lesser scores get into the VERY TOP programs so this score won't keep you OUT of anywhere- but you will need something else special in your profile- like great work experience, compelling goals,
great references, charisma.... etc and then you could still get in anywhere. The higher your GMAT, the less extra amazing you will have to be on some of these other metrics. Also- yes- GMAT score does impact scholarship options- so hope that helps you as you make choices- I could see you presenting well at Georgetown, USC, Kelley, SMU Cox, Tepper- just to name a few schools with the score you have now-.... if you also present well in other areas. I challenge you to frame this more as .... what do I want to do, which schools best help me do that among the top 30 programs, then plan to do great research on those schools and I think you can do well.
