Taking the exam in Sept 2018 sounds great. Do you mean you would apply in the fall 2019 to start in fall 2020? If so, then yes I think that will be a good time to apply. Sooner than that I think you will be seen as not having enough experience. It is good to apply in the first round deadline too (typically in Sept or Oct).

Thanks!
Kate

Hello,

I would like to take the exam on September, 2018 and apply for universities in fall, 2019. Will it be a good choice? As I will gain more than two years of experience by that time.

Regards
Ayan Ghosh

According to my profile, should I consider doing Masters in Business Administration or Specialised Business Master's?

Is there any program in B-schools which includes both?

Hi again!

It depends on what you're looking for from the program and your goals. The MBA is the more traditional option, and usually longer (most programs take 2 years). The MBA is also targeted to working professionals who have in the range of 4-6 years experience. And it is also the broadest in terms of career options -- graduates pursue consulting, finance, marketing, strategy, general management, etc.

Specialized Master's are more recent to the US, but more common in other countries, especially those in Europe. Usually they are shorter programs and targeted to earlier career candidates. So this might be a good option for you if you want to go sooner than we discussed previously. Or if you have a very specific field of interest (e.g., a Specialized Master's in Supply Chain Management, or Analytics, etc.)

Yes, some schools do offer both. For instance Duke Fuqua has both an MBA and a Master of Management Studies. This is just one example that came to mind, I'm sure there are other schools that offer both.

Good luck!
Kate
