Hi mbaMission-would really appreciate a profile evaluation
Here is my background....
Demographics:
- 25 year old Indian Male, 28 at the time of graduation
Work Experience:
- 4 years (at the time of starting the program) in management consulting in India at a Big Four firm with a focus on strategy & operations in financial services
- Key Projects include areas such as large scale transformation at banks, market entry strategy and business process re-engineering
- Currently been working there for 3 years (promoted in 2 years) likely to be promoted again next year if I continue in the firm
- I expect to have pretty stellar recommendations from managers
-Multiple internships across areas such as banking, investment management & private equity prior to working
Education:
-3 year undergraduate degree in business management at a top 10 UK school
-Graduated with a First Class (1:1)
-School: Went to a very well reputed school in India
Scores:
- GMAT- 710 (45 Q, 41 V, 5 IR, 6 AWA)
Extra-Curriculars:
-Captained the University Squash team
-Swimming- School & district level
-National level squash player
-Football- school team for 7 yrs
-Current volunteer at a local NGO teaching English & Maths (1 year by the time I apply)
Post-MBA Goals:
- I would like to join a strategy consulting firm or get into Investment banking / PE. My long term goal is to start by own boutique consulting firm.
My Schools:
-Columbia
-Stanford
-Wharton
-Tuck
-Michigan
-Yale
Any advice would really be appreciated! Do I need to worry about my GMAT score, especially the low quant score. Is there any way to stand a competitive chance of getting into my top 3 choices with this score?

Thanks for posting! On the surface, there is a lot to like here. Coming from a Big 4 consulting program in India will give you an edge over other Indian applicants. Also, your grades and the fact that you studied in the UK will set you apart, as will your ECs.
However, what I worry about for you is exactly what you yourself have highlighted...your Quant score. We just did an analysis of successful Indian applicants to Top 15 programs and the vast majority have 47+ on Quant and higher than 720 overall. (And more than half had higher than 740.) So if you haven't already taken the exam a 2nd or 3rd time, I'd recommend doing so and seeing if you can add some points. It's early in the season so you still have time. Then, two other parts of your strategy need to be...
1. Go all R1 with your apps. For your demographic in particular, you want to get in early before the avalanche of Indian applicants arrives in R2.
2. Expand your school strategy. Definitely apply to the schools you are targeting but I want you to add some safer options where your chances will be higher of being successful. I know it hurts and it's not what most Indian applicants want to do but if this is the year you want to get your MBA and you want to get a US MBA, it's an important strategic step. Specifically, I want you to look at UNC, Tepper, and Georgetown. Another thing for you to consider...if you want to stay in North America post MBA, you may find that that is easier to do from a Canadian b-school. The US H1B pool (basically the highly skilled migrant visa) is pretty small and the visas go quickly. Canada gives you more options. Lastly -- HEC in France!!! Please look at it...the structure of the program is quite interesting...you do a year in France and then your 2nd year, you study abroad at a top MBA program and many of the options are US programs. This could be a good "backdoor" option into a US program that still allows you to go through recruiting season with the US program.
