Hello!
Just wanted a quick opinion on my profile.
Age: 30
Nationality: Indian Male (with US Citizenship)
GMAT: 670 (Q42; V40; AWA: 6; IR: 4) after 4 attempts and 1 cancelled attempt. I've managed to improve the score in each attempt (610->620->670).
Undergrad: Rutgers University with a 3.5 GPA in Biomedical Engineering
Grad: University of Pennsylvania - majored in Biomedical Engineering
Work Experience:
- Accenture Consulting (6/2013-10/2014)
- PwC Risk Management Consulting (3/2015-6/2017)
- CIT Bank (7/2017-Present); I work in the Risk Management area
I have decent extracurriculars, including classical music singing and some volunteering experience.
Recommendations:
- 1 from my Manager at PwC
- 1 from my current supervisor at CIT Bank
Goals: I've had experience in the financial services space, primarily executing engagements for large financial institutions. CIT Bank has exposed me to a more mid-sized institution. I want to leverage the MBA to pivot out of Risk Management and into strategy consulting in the financial services domain.
Target Schools:
- Wharton
- Booth
- NYU
- Tepper
- UT Austin
Wharton, Booth, and NYU are definitely the schools I would love to attend since they are finance centric. With regards to my GMAT, I feel pretty burnt out. I probably will give it one more shot in August. In my last attempt, my score got cancelled and I received a misconduct since I accidentally turned on my cell phone. I'm unfortunately going to need to explain that in an optional essay. The only reason taking the GMAT again seems somewhat appealing to me is because if I knock break 700, the misconduct will probably be overshadowed. I just wish it didn't happen in my latest attempt. I was alternatively thinking of taking the GRE. Wharton, Booth, and NYU are pretty competitive, so I want to try to position myself in the best possible way. My quant score on the GMAT is low, but I have taken about 7 math classes in my engineering days and have received good grades in them. I will probably try to highlight that in the worst case scenario.
I want to try to apply to all the schools in Round 1 of this coming application cycle to give myself the best chance.
Your thoughts would be much appreciated!
Regards,
Vignesh
