Hi there! Unfortunately (as you may know) you're coming from the most overrepresented demographic when it comes to b-school applications so the trick is going to be differentiating yourself from the rest. This is a population that tends to have very high GMAT scores so you'll want to aim for a score that's ~30 points above a school's average in order to be competitive, especially since so many other aspects of your profile are quite similar to the competition. If there's any possibility of improving your GMAT to the 730 range that will make schools in the 11-20 range more of an option for you. With your current score I'd aim for schools in the high teens to high 20s range (we use US New & World Repot Rankings). I'd check out schools like UVA, Tepper, UNC, Cornell & UCLA. Depending on your score you'll have more or less of a shot at the higher ranked ones. You can find the average GMAT scores in the class profile section of a school's website.
It's somewhat unique to be in an analyst role rather than the typical technical job, but the challenge with analyst roles is that just due to the nature of them it's often quite hard to show the business impact you've driven. B-schools like to see applicants who have driven quantifiable impact in their work (e.g. driving increases in revenue or decreases in cost, launching new profitable products, etc).
They also like to see demonstrated leadership, so if you have any experiences at work or in an extracurricular activity that will strengthen your candidacy.
Consulting is also an extremely popular goal among applicants from your demographic (product manager in a tech firm is the #1 most common goal & consulting is #2) so that goal in & of itself won't do much to differentiate you. That's not to say you can't pursue consulting, but you'll want to make a strong argument for why this is your passion & what you hope to accomplish in the future. Alternatively, you could explore other more unique post-MBA goals, which could help you stand out a bit more from the crowd.
Hope this helps! If you'd like more help thinking through your strategy or your story feel free to email Claudia at
