So you have a good UG GPA, but the GRE seems low. I realize verbal is lower since English isn't your first language, but it is coming out to about a 680 GMAT. Now MFE programs put more weight on the quant scores so that might help you, but I would say the top programs are going to be a stretch with those scores. CFA is nice, but MFE programs are about math, statistics, modeling and other quant skills. The CFA is more of a fundamental analysis program. You aren't beefing up math or quant skills passing those levels.

Not sure the overall reputation of your UG, but that aside, I would say you'd be competitive for a number of good, not top MFE programs. I would check out Quantnet for their ranking if you want to get an idea where you fall.

Will improving on a verbal score help with universities? Mfe curriculum does help finance modules. I wanted to go for msf but i will have cfa l2 before my course starts so i will cover most of curriculum. This is the reason I am more interested in MFE as I had mathematics in my undergrad course.

Quantnet and other ranking sites like tfe bot have very contradictory rankings.

Hey TheElfGod,
I would say that as you are planning for specialized masters here are few things you should look up to:

GPA
Undergrad college rank (This criteria mostly applies to the top schools which are notorious for recruiting from the tier-1 UG colleges)
GMAT/GRE
Prior experience in finance
Finance Related Certifications
Activities that showcase a strong quantitative acumen
Apart from these, having a diverse set of extra-curriculars (Eg: Social Volunteering, Student clubs, Awards) will go a long way in showcasing your profile as a holistic one.

Now talking about your profile I must say that you have a pretty good profile. Though you have an average GPA but there are several other highlights through which it can be compensated:

1.Strong GRE: You have a strong GRE score of 320, would help showcase your quantitative acumen.
2. CFA certification - Schools value this certification which can differentiate your profile from the others.

3. Work Experience: Work ex, looks pretty fair as well, however, the lack of brand names on your resume might be a bit of a dent, especially for the top schools. You can also talk about the startup you had, what were the learnings, how did you start that and what were the outcomes.

4. Extra-curricular - The diverse set of extra-curriculars like working in an NGO, raising funds, etc are definitely an add on and can be highlighted. Adcoms are interested in knowing about the initiatives you have undertaken and what was the impact for the same so make sure to elaborate them through your essays.
Apart from that, The Redhact certificate itself will add only marginal value, however, if you use the learning to deliver a project or get an internship, this will get you brownie points.

Considering the fact that you will appear for the CFA exam next year, hence you will be applying for 2021 intake. I would suggest you take up some job meanwhile and prepare for the exam parallelly.

I have given you an overview of your profile and here are some colleges you can target:
Dream: LBS, USC Marshall
UC San Diego
Competitive: Schulich School of Business - York University, Imperial College London
Safe: IESE, Skema

Also, I would suggest you check out our profile evaluation - This does not just give you insights on your profile strengths and weaknesses; you will also get some recommendations on how to build your profile further.

Do check it out and let me know if it helped :)
