Goals
Short Term: Currently, I'm a digital marketing consultant; I plan to shift to strategy consulting at a top global firm such as Bain or McKinsey, ideally focusing on clients in the CPG space, and integrating new technology and digital strategies that can help expand their clients' early stage businesses from Latin America to the U.S.
Long Term: I want to eventually move on from strategy consulting and work with a reputable Venture Capital firm such as DFJ or Andreessen Horowitz, ideally working in the capacity of an entrepreneur-in-residence.
Schools
Stanford, Harvard, MIT, Duke, Univ. of Florida (UF), and University of Miami (FL); in order of preference
Uniqueness
What sets me apart?: Created a web hosting business and digital marketing agency in 2007. Generated $300K+ in revenue. I sold the business in 2010. I've been involved in other startups that weren't as successful, but generated significant traction.
Recommendations
Two people have offered to write letters of recommendation for me, but they were under the impression it'd be for job interviews. Also, these two people work at the same company (one is the Founder/Creative Director and the other is the Vice President, who is more likely to give me the stronger reco). I also have a former employer from 2015-2017 that would likely write a strong reco, but English is not their first language.
Gaps
GPA: My GPA is 2.39. My first two years in college I was originally studying for a Marketing degree. During that time, I was not focused and failed numerous courses. I was selling stuff on eBay (retail arbitrage), working with intramural sports teams (captain of a soccer team; we won our league in 2007!), and that's when I started my business. I switched majors from Marketing to Liberal Studies so I could spend more time on my business and my grades slowly improved.
Career: When I sold my business, I tried working for a large corporation like Citrix, but after 8 months I decided to go back to the entrepreneurial lifestyle. I've been doing freelance and consulting since 2010, with the occassional 1-2 years at a new agency or startup company. My performance at these agencies/startups has always been good and I have the references to prove it.
