Sorry to be blunt but maybe you should step away from this application process and reevaluate your profile and career path. Why have you not done anything since 2019? What about finding a job and getting a track record employment? Do you have to apply for an MIM now? Will that actually help you secure a job?

You need to put some feathers in your cap. I realize this is a tough environment but there are still jobs to be had and outside activities in which to participate. I would suggest taking the next 12 months and achieving things. You can even extend your studying time so you're not right up against the minimum test requirement.

Any and all of these things will strengthen your profile and, therefore, your chances. Please reach out to Admissionado if you need help with mentoring programs to get you on track and, if you are serious about applying now, the application process itself.

Best,

Hello sir/ma'am
Profile Evaluation:

I have taken a GMAT test once and I only got 560. However, I will be giving another test in few weeks and I will surely get around 610-620.
My undergraduate GPA was 2.2 .
I have no work experience and I haven't done anything since I graduated in 2019.(an year and a half year gap).
My profile is pretty bad but there are colleges like ESMT Berlin which is not keeping the GMAT marks as optional.
What if I apply for this college or NHH for the CEMS MIM program where the GMAT cutoff is barely 600?

What are my chances?

Hi SJ5,

First and foremost, you do possess quite a few shortcomings in your profile but there is nothing that a strong application cannot fix. Keeping this in mind, lets begin with your profile evaluation. Talking about your undergraduate degree, you hold a 2.2 CGPA which is pretty much on the lower end of the spectrum for which I would recommend you to pose the right alibi by drawing attention to other stronger aspects of your profile such as your extracurricular activities or your internship experiences.

Speaking of extracurricular activities, it is an equally important aspect of your profile as it showcases a holistically developed profile which is what these B-schools are looking for. Here, you can highlight how you went above and beyond in your endeavors and how you will be a great value addition to the school. To give you a brief idea of how to go about with this, you can maybe talk about the clubs and associations you were involved in, the teams you led, certifications you undertook and most importantly your volunteering activities along with NGOs. Most importantly, you can arrange a few certification courses to showcase how you are constantly upskilling yourself. It will also highlight your soft skills paired with your social skills which can ultimately vouch for the budding leader within you.

Coming to your practical experiences, it is an equally important aspect of your profile and plays a key role in your chances of getting accepted into any of the top B-schools. It seems though that you have a gap year in your profile which is never a good thing and is always considered a major drawback among most of the top-notch schools. To fill this gap, I would suggest that you talk about how you were involved in your family business or in any of your acquaintances' business to showcase that you were making constructive use of time during this period.

Coming on to your GMAT score, while you are targeting a 610-620, I would recommend broadening your range and boosting your score by upto 650+ or consider non GMAT schools.

In the case of Non-GMAT schools, you can target ESMT, GRENOBLE, SKEMA, NEOMA and IESEG. Most notably, I would highly recommend you to target European based schools since they are quite flexible with the CGPA requirement which is something you can take advantage of considering your low CGPA.

All things considered, I would suggest that you lay your emphasis on crafting a very strong application to increase your chances of acceptance. Your application (comprising your resume, LORs, and Essays) is what differentiates you by highlighting your strengths and overshadowing your weaknesses which in your case is your rather low CGPA. Additionally, it also carries a 30% impact on your admission prospects which is why I would urge you to pay more attention to the same.
