I actually think those schools feel very appropriate. Your Quant score is good and while we do recommend a retake, you're still at a relatively good starting point. Focus on the Verbal score as these schools will care about your English skills given your competitive demographic.

You also have time to apply to these schools so I would really also try to get involved in a couple of extracurricular endeavors. You say you have not much, so why not fix that while you have some time? It won't be a strength in your profile but you can definitely raise the "floor" for this component.

Does that help?

Hi ruchira123,

I see that a retake has been recommended. If you do end up retaking your GMAT and need any advice, feel free to reach out.

Hi ruchira123,

The process of applying to (and ultimately attending) Business School will require a big investment of time, money and energy on your part, so you really should make sure that the Programs that you apply to match your career goals/needs. There are a variety of factors that go into selecting the Schools that you'll apply to. Instead of just applying to Programs in which you might have a good chance to 'get in', here are some other things to consider:

1) Is there a particular company that you want to work for or industry that you want to work in? Certain degrees are more appropriate than others if you have a specific career goal.
2) What do you want your MBA to do for you?
3) Do you want to go to School full-time or part-time?
4) Are you willing to relocate? Are you comfortable with working through a program that is primarily online?
5) Are you going to be applying for scholarships?
Etc.

It's okay if you don't have answers to any of these questions just yet, but you really should try to define all of the important variables in terms of your goals, so that you can tailor your entire approach to getting into the best School that matches what you're looking for.

As far as retaking the GMAT is concerned, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) How long have you studied? How many hours did you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
4) What is your overall goal score?

If you took your Official GMAT at a Test Center, then you might also choose to purchase the Enhanced Score Report. While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). If you purchase the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you.

Dear ruchira123 , a very important point has been made in a previous comment about evaluating MBA programs based on your expectations from the program, and the returns that you seek in terms of advancing your career. You have not talked about your future goals or the industry you feel passionately about. Aligning the target school with your focus industry and geography of interest would yield the right outcome. Also, if you feel you have not done much in terms of ECs you could refer to my write up on how to bring a different perspective around your impact initiatives:

https://gmatclub.com/forum/how-to-put-t ... l#p2943926

As you are not too far off from your country average for Quant, I suggest you pursue a targeted approach and identify improvement areas. In Verbal, SC is considered relatively easier to improve. Identify how can you increase your score in specific sections and where do major gaps lie. If you are able to improve to a 700+ score I encourage that you consider applying to ISB as well if you wish to graduate from a top Indian B School with great global standing.

If you wish to seek professional guidance on your application strategy do reach out.

Best wishes

Hi Admissionado
Just came back from my bad attempt at GMAT scoring (Q45,V28). Though i will try to improve this score as i still have time and will apply for fall 2023. Just wanted to get an idea of some schools i can get with my profile . Indian, Female, approx 3 YOE(by fall 2023). Graduated in 2020 with B.TECH from Delhi Technological University and cgpa- 8.1/10. Currently working in big 4 as an analyst (major work in data analytics). 12th-94.8% 10th-9.8cgpa and i have one research paper published in scopus journal. In extracurricular i dont have anything much. How much chance do i have in colleges like UTD (MSBA) and other msba/mba colleges like ucinn for msba, scheller, buffalo for mba. Also if someone can suggest me some 1-2 colleges which i should consider with my score please feel free

Hi Team,

I would be grateful if you could evaluate my profile (as below) and help address my query.

Profile
1. GMAT Score -710 (Q49, V38)
2. Under graduation- B Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Manipal University (GPA-8.7/10) (Batch of 2016)
3. Work Experience- 6 years (3 with KPMG India and 3 years of international work experience with Ernst and Young, Singapore)- Working in the technology risk consulting domain, where i advise clients to reduce IT risks in their operations. Have got promoted year on year in both my companies.

Post MBA career goals- Switch to strategy consulting from technology risk consulting, wherein i help firms with cost reduction, process enhancements through business process redesign.

4. Extra curriculars-
Founded NGO in India- where we help slum dwellers (Run drug awareness campaigns, employment drives for women in slums, and help enroll slum children in government schools)

College Tennis team captain.

Query
1. I have received an admit from Rotman in Canada. I wanted to understand with my profile is it the best option currently or could i try for other schools (Insead/ US schools) next year with my profile. I got a ding from LBS (the other school i applied to). A few key considerations are:
a. Good network and quality of education
b. Ability to move to a strategy consulting firm
c. ability to settle abroad and hopefully get my mother to live with me in the long term.

Thanks so much with your help.

Warm Regards,
Rohan

Congrats on the Rotman acceptance. That is really great.

Rotman checks many of those boxes, so you should seriously considering accepting your offer.

You can definitely get into a program in the US but it depends on how highly ranked of a school you would need/want for it make sense to give up this acceptance. A top 10 US school is unlikely but not impossible.

This is the classic bird-in-the-hand situation. There's no "right" or guaranteed answer, but in the interest of giving a straightforward answer I would suggest accepting the offer and making the most of your experience.
