Hi everyone,
Currently planning out my MBA options (still some time out for actually applying) and would appreciate your thoughts on my chances of getting an admit at top schools (M7) and what my next steps should be
Background:
1. Undergrad from the Top Private Engineering College in India
2. CGPA - 8.35/10 (WES 3.69/4); Finance Minor GPA - 10/10 (Class Rank 1 in multiple courses)
3. GRE: 329 (170Q, 159V, 5 AWA); will give GMAT 1 year down the line but had a 0-day mock score of 710 so hoping for a 750-760 in the actual test
4. Workex: Almost 9 months as an Investment Banking Analyst in the top team at a leading Investment Bank in India (Front office), 6 months as a Junior Analyst at the Investment Banking middle office of global bulge bracket (JP/GS/MS)
5. Internships:
6 months in the middle office role (converted to a full-time position)
1.5 months in a PE/VC advisory based out of the UK
2 months in a Corp Dev/Strategy role at a telecom firm in the Philippines
2 months in a small market research firm
1.5 months (informally) in equity research at a large Indian mutual fund
6. Leadership/club work -
Worked as one of the Placement Coordinators (worked in the middle of the COVID mess to place 1,000+ students)
CIO at the campus investment club
VP at the campus MUN
Member of the consult and policy debate clubs.
7. No significant community work
8. Cleared CFA L1 in Jul'21 (90+ percentile); haven't registered yet for L2 because of lack of time to prep
9. Career goals - Shift to PE/VC roles at megafunds back in India (Getting interview offers at said firms rn but pushing back for more experience in current job)
Main goal of getting an MBA is to get international experience and to move up in my career trajectory (A lot of PE/VC funds in India don't have track roles)
