Hi! Curious what you think my chances of getting into HBS and INSEAD are.- F- Age: 30- Work: tech, founded a company, currently top tier VC (7 years exp total)- Multicultural (speak 5 languages)- GRE 311 (taking it again, but I'm not great at standardized tests)- First gen college student- Undergrad top 20, but transferred from community college (after learning english), CC GPA: 3.9, Uni GPA: 3.05I'm mostly nervous about my test scores and GPA. Curious if you think the positive career trajectory could balance it out. Hi @ I hope you are doing well!
Your profile demonstrates significant strengths: 7 years of experience in tech and venture capital, including founding a company, which showcases entrepreneurial drive and leadership potential. Your multicultural background and language skills are also valuable assets, particularly for globally focused schools like HBS and INSEAD. However, your GRE score of 311 is on the lower end for both schools, and your GPA of 3.05 from university, though offset by a strong CC GPA, might raise concerns for admissions committees. The positive trajectory of your career, including experience at a top-tier VC firm and founding a company, will help mitigate the impact of your academic metrics. However, it's essential to retake the GRE and aim for a higher score (preferably 320+) to enhance your application. Make sure to leverage your first-gen status, entrepreneurial journey, and multicultural perspective to craft a compelling narrative about your background, growth, and goals.
For HBS and INSEAD, your application will need to emphasize your leadership, impact, and vision clearly. Your work experience could set you apart, but you’ll need a strong test score and solid essays to balance out your academic profile.
