My queries:
INSEAD-Specific Queries
  1. With ~3–4 years of conventional work experience plus entrepreneurial ventures, would my profile be competitive for INSEAD despite being below the class average in work experience?
  2. Should I apply in the upcoming cycle, or would I be better off spending 1–2 more years scaling my ventures and applying for the 2028 intake?
  3. How are entrepreneurial experiences (Airbnb venture, PropTech startup, family business involvement) typically viewed compared to traditional corporate experience?
  4. Would you recommend the January or August intake for someone targeting a career pivot into consumer-focused product, growth, or strategy roles?
  5. Does learning French add any meaningful value to my candidacy beyond meeting INSEAD's language requirements?
  6. What would be the biggest strengths and concerns in my profile from an INSEAD admissions perspective?
Hi Anshika10, thanks for sharing your profile!

So, INSEAD will like the combination of your corporate and entrepreneurial experiences, and they absolutely count ventures such as your Airbnb business, PropTech startup, and family business involvement as legitimate professional experience, provided you can demonstrate ownership, scale, revenue, customer impact, and measurable outcomes. Your strengths are your academic consistency, female-in-tech demographic, startup exposure, and founder potential.

The biggest concerns are the 615 GMAT FE, relatively limited full-time work experience compared to the INSEAD average, and the fact that your PropTech venture is still at the pre-launch stage. At present, I would view INSEAD as a stretch, while schools like IESE, ESADE, HEC Paris, and IE may offer a stronger risk-reward balance. Happy to discuss this further.

For your specific questions: Yes, 3-4 years of experience is sufficient for INSEAD if the quality of experience is high, and your entrepreneurial work helps compensate for being younger than the class average. I would give it a shot now, particularly because entrepreneurial momentum is strongest when it is current and active. If you can improve your GMAT to 655-675 FE+, your odds improve significantly. For intake preference, the Jan intake may fit your profile slightly better because it offers internship flexibility, which can help if you're targeting growth, product, or strategy roles in consumer-focused companies. Learning French is not a major admissions advantage by itself, but it reinforces INSEAD's international mindset and signals commitment to thriving in a multicultural environment.

You need to work on the narrative. Why D2C specifically? What customer problem are you obsessed with solving? What traction has the Airbnb venture generated? How many users, customers, properties, revenue, partnerships, or growth milestones can you point to in the PropTech startup? What leadership examples best demonstrate your ability to influence without authority? The best version of your story isn't "tech consultant wants an MBA", it can be- "future founder leveraging technology, consumer insight, and growth strategy to build scalable businesses." I would also recommend reviewing the admissions and employment reports from INSEAD MBA and HEC Paris's employment statistics to better understand post-MBA outcomes.

Your profile already has the raw ingredients. The real question is whether your application will present you as someone who experimented with entrepreneurship, or as someone who has already started building the foundation of a future high-growth venture.

In the past, we had the opportunity to work some great applicants who got into top business schools. You can take a look at the success stories here: Ms. Project Manager (Family Business), Reapplicant with 8 years of experience and Low GPA, got into INSEAD | Ms. Assistant Manager, got into INSEAD(20K € Scholarship) and IESE with a 680 GMAT Score!

Cheers!
