Hi,

I'm preparing to apply for fall 2010, but I'm not sure what my chances are and if it is realistic to apply with my current profile and Gmat Scores.
I would like to share my profile with you and would need a list of universities which I can apply to.

Here it is:

- I'm from Chennai, India

- Studies:
-I am one of the multiple engineers, India has produced.
-Got a EEE degree, with much accolades from staff and a couple of inter college level seminars
- Got a 3.6 GPA, from one of the top universities in India

Extra curriculars:
- Was the Interact Club Secretary @ higher secondary School
- Led the School team in the sports activities
- Was a part of John Britto's Dance Academy in Chennai
- Participated in various Dance and mime shows in School, College and organisation level

- Experience
- 3.25 years as a Software development engineer @ a reputed software firm in india
- Works mainly in finance sector, in the banking product development
- Was the Employee Engagement Champion & Voice of Youth Member

- Languages:
- Tamil (mother tongue)
- English
- French (Cleared Level 1)
- Age: 24

GMAT - 590 ( bombed big time, tried once after that, ended up in a lower score. Hope the universities take the higher score)
ToeFL - 100 took it last October

Please list a few univs, which i can target at.

What are you goals after college, any stories? IIT, NIT or neither? what %? and are you willing to retake your GMAT again?

Try California State Norhtridge or CSULA. Even though financing might be a problem there....

Thank you for the response.

I have already taken up GMAT thrice, and the last one was the best shot I could arrive at... I know the score's a mess and might not reflect my real capability with regard to the exam, but taking it up again, putting in considerable effort is not something im not comfortable with.

I finished my UG from Anna University, Chennai with a major in Electricals and switched to IT and been working with IT for tha past 3 yrs. My Career goals primarily is focussed on a consulting arena, in regards of Business, Finance and Education.

Goal oriented experience:
Though, I have not made it to a B-school, I have been able to motivate and suggest university's and review applications of many of my fellow mates. Of course their GMAT scores were much higher than mine.
With regard to Finance, I have been working with a Core banking solution product for more than 3 yrs, and gained suffiecient knowledge with regard to banking fundas. I am planning to take up a couple of NSE modules, for stock exchange certification as well.

Realisticly your chances are slim if your GMAT is weak and you are international. You may have to consider lower ranked schools which do not care as much about GMAT score, or a highly ranked in one componant like thunderbird (International) or babson.

If in that case, you may try a MS program and save your MBA opp for later down the line. You are young and maybe an MS program and US work experience can help you. Depends on your goals and what you want to do.
