Request you to please evaluate my profile and career goal for HEC Paris MBA.
- Education:
* B.S. in Material Science and Engineering (GPA 3.0/4.5) (Top 3 university in Korea)
* B.A. in Economics (Remote Education - Under leave of absence)
- GMAT: (Aug/11, Once)
* Verbal (38/83%) / Quantitative (48/80%) / Total (700/90%) / AWA 4.0
- TOEFL:
* iBT 102
- Work Experience:
* 2 years as a field engineer at a refinery
* 2 years as an assitant project manager in an EPC company - Mainly in charge of project management/budgeting of EPC plant projects in the Middle East
- Internation / Cultural Exposure:
* Professional:
Involved in a project in the Middle East (1.5 years) - Client from the Middle East / Multi-national managment consulting staffs
* Personal:
7 months long transcontinental expedition by bicycle (from China to France) / Multi-cultural exposure
- Career Vision
* Short Term : Project Management / Financing in Energy Businesses (Especially Oil & Gas Sector)
* Long Term : Project Manager at private or national energy giants.
I am highly interested in HEC Paris because of its "Energy and Finance Certificate" and its location.
Just trying to identify and weak-points that I should address or strengths I should emphasize given my background.

Weak points:
1. The BA in economics doesn't fit in with the rest of the profile - what was this all about?
2. The undergrad GPA is a bit low.
The good news:
1. HEC Paris is not too particular about your undergraduate GPA (have helped people with GPAs as low as 2.2/4.0 get in without too many questions around their weak acads)
2. 700 is competitive on the GMAT for the HEC
Strengths to emphasize:
Plenty. Your work-ex, your extra-curriculars, GMAT, diversity. Make sure you craft the perfect application. All the best!

It will help that your B.S. is in a higher difficult field of study but yeah, your GPA may raise some concerns about your motivation to do well academically. Were your grades better during the later years? Also, what's your GPA in the B.A. Economics course as good grades over here may help you present your case in a much better way. There are many way to address a low GPA and you can read about them over here
Your experience is a tad lower than the average workex for most of the one year program (and HEC's 16 month will probably fall under the same set) however a lot will depend on what you make out of it. It will be critical for you to showcase that you are a rock star at work with lots of leadership experiences. Also, your extracurricular seems to be the weakest part of your profile as not much is mentioned on that side. As far as your goals are concerned, they seem logical to what you are currently doing and the specific Energy offering from HEC's program.
Every year, many applicants with far better "numbers" than you do not get in and those with worse do get the offer letter. Overall, your chances of success will depend on how well you can fill the gaps that are mentioned above and execute your application because at the end of the day, admissions committee members will look at those pieces of paper to make the judgments.
